TimelineUnveiled 2020, first owner boats sailing from 2023

A new Seawind 1370 starts at about US$820,000 ex-factory in Vietnam before tax, and boats specced the way owners usually order them have been reviewed at around $1.15 million. Resale stock is thin because the model is young: the few 2024 to 2026 boats advertised in 2026 ask roughly $820,000 to $977,000, and some of those are unused hulls or build contracts changing hands.

For buyers in this region the location is the story. This is the one production cruising catamaran on our list built inside Southeast Asia, at Seawind's plant in Ho Chi Minh City, so you can walk the factory floor, see your hull in build and take delivery close to where you plan to sail.

Seawind 1370 price in 2026

Two figures get quoted for the base boat: about $820,000 ex-factory Vietnam before VAT, and about $850,000 before tax with $100,000 to $150,000 of options typically added on top. On the boats reviewed so far, that money went on air conditioning, the 57 hp engines and lithium batteries. One heavily upgraded review boat was quoted near $1.6 million, so treat our $1.15 million upper figure as a well-equipped boat, not a ceiling.

Seawind has spoken publicly about a large order book, and that creates a second market in build slots. In 2026 a private seller advertised the build contract for hull #42, located at the factory in Ho Chi Minh City, at $820,000 for delivery that year. Buying a slot can save a long wait, but only with the builder's written consent to the transfer, the original spec sheet and a clear record of what has already been paid.

Built in Vietnam: what it means for a regional buyer

Seawind started in Sydney in 1982 under Richard Ward. Its production base became Ho Chi Minh City after the 2010 tie-up with trimaran builder Corsair Marine, which had moved its plant there from San Diego. The 1370 comes out of the Saigon Shipyard, Seawind's main factory. In 2024 the company opened a second plant in Izmir, Türkiye, and moved the smaller 1170 there, so confirm in the contract where your particular hull is laminated and finished.

The build is vinylester resin infused over PVC foam core, reinforced with glass and carbon, with no balsa. Seawind also opened a Handover and Service Center at Ocean Marina in Thailand in 2023, which gives Gulf of Thailand owners a factory-backed point of contact after delivery.

Vietnam itself is still a thin market for private registration: 10% VAT, an excise charge referenced at about 2% on registration and rules that are still settling. Our Vietnam sale page explains what Ana Marina Nha Trang's international port code changed in 2025. If the boat will not stay in Vietnam, agree the export route and first registration with the builder and a lawyer before you sign.

Design and layout

The Yacht Design Collective drew a chined hull that widens the living space above the waterline while keeping the boat light. The galley sits up in the saloon, a trifold door opens it to the cockpit, and the twin helms are fully protected under the hardtop. A self-tacking jib and square-top main let two experienced people sail it without crew, which is the owner Seawind has in mind.

Four layouts are offered. The three-cabin version gives the whole port hull to an owner's suite; the four-cabin versions suit families or regular guests. Cruising World named it Best Midsize Multihull in its 2025 Boat of the Year awards.

Seawind 1370 vs Lagoon 42 and Elba 45

In Phuket and Langkawi the obvious comparisons are the Lagoon 42 and the Fountaine Pajot Elba 45. Both are cheaper used, and both turn up often as ex-charter boats, so there is plenty of choice and plenty of wear to price in. The Seawind is a different purchase: an owner-operator boat, mostly bought new, with almost no charter-fleet resale feeding the market. You pay more and wait longer, but you usually know every hour the boat has done.

Supply works differently too. Lagoon and Fountaine Pajot hulls reach Asia through charter fleets and dealers, while a Seawind here is usually a build slot, a new boat from the factory or one of very few private resales.

Survey and handover checks in the tropics

New boats need a survey too, and a resale boat needs a full one. Start with our tropical survey checklist, then add the items below. Ask us on WhatsApp for the current factory spec and option list, or for pictures of a specific hull in build or on the resale market.

  • Laminate and core: moisture and void checks around deck hardware and the arch
  • Saildrive seals, legs and anodes, and whether the engines are the 40 hp or 57 hp spec
  • Trifold door, hatch and window seals after heavy tropical rain
  • Battery bank, solar controllers and the 24 V system, especially on lithium-equipped boats
  • Standing rigging tension and chainplates after the delivery passage
  • Warranty terms and whether they transfer on a resale or slot purchase

Questions buyers ask us

Where is the Seawind 1370 built?

The Seawind 1370 is built at Seawind Catamarans' Saigon Shipyard in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, the company's main factory since its 2010 merger with Corsair Marine. Seawind opened a second plant in Izmir, Türkiye in 2024, first used for the smaller 1170, so confirm the build location of a specific hull in the contract.

How much does a Seawind 1370 cost?

As of 2026 market range, a new base boat is about $820,000 to $850,000 ex-factory before tax, and typical options add $100,000 to $150,000. Reviewed well-equipped boats sit around $1.15 million. The few resale boats and build-slot transfers advertised in 2026 ask roughly $820,000 to $977,000.

Can I take delivery of a Seawind 1370 in Thailand?

Seawind has run a Handover and Service Center at Ocean Marina in Thailand since 2023. Whether your hull is handed over there or in Vietnam depends on the contract, so agree the delivery point, who sails the boat there and who pays the 7% Thai import VAT before you sign.

What engines does the Seawind 1370 have?

Standard power is twin Yanmar 40 hp diesels on saildrives, with 57 hp versions offered as an upgrade. The boat carries 520 litres of diesel in two tanks and 600 litres of fresh water.
